Thousands of eight-drawer dressers sold through Amazon have been recalled because they could tip over and trap children underneath them, creating a risk of serious injury or death.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall after determining that the Furnulem dressers were unstable when they were not secured to a wall. Approximately 16,800 units are included in the recall.
Which Amazon Dressers Were Recalled?
The recall covers Furnulem eight-drawer fabric dressers with model number DS-0148D003. The model number is printed on the product packaging.
The dressers were available in black, brown and white. Each unit has a metal frame, a wooden top, recessed electrical outlets and eight collapsible fabric drawers.
The recalled dressers measure approximately 13.8 inches deep, 45 inches wide and 29.7 inches tall. Consumers can compare these details with the photos and product description in the official CPSC recall notice.
Why Are the Furnulem Dressers Dangerous?
The dressers can become unstable when they are not properly anchored to a wall. A child climbing on the furniture, pulling out multiple drawers or placing weight on an open drawer could cause the entire unit to fall forward.
A falling dresser can strike, crush or trap a child. Furniture tip-over incidents can happen quickly and may occur even when an adult is nearby.
The CPSC said the dressers do not comply with the mandatory stability requirements established under the STURDY Act. These requirements are designed to reduce injuries and deaths involving clothing-storage furniture.
Parents should not assume that a lightweight fabric dresser is harmless. Although fabric drawers may weigh less than traditional wooden drawers, the frame, wooden top and items stored inside can still create enough force to seriously injure a child.
Where and When Were the Dressers Sold?
The affected dressers were sold exclusively online through Amazon from September 2023 through November 2025.
They were priced at approximately $80 and sold by Furnulem, which operates under Shanghai Taiye Furniture Co. Ltd. of China.
Consumers should review their Amazon order history if they purchased an eight-drawer Furnulem dresser during this period. Searching for the brand name or model number may help confirm whether the product is included.
What Owners Should Do Immediately
Consumers should stop using the recalled dresser if it is not currently anchored to a wall. It should be placed in a room or secured area that children cannot access while the refund process is completed.
Furnulem is offering a full refund. Owners must contact the company for disposal instructions and submit a photograph showing that the dresser has been properly destroyed or disposed of.
Refund and contact instructions are available through the Furnulem recall page, which is also linked within the federal recall announcement.
Consumers should not sell, donate or give the recalled dresser to another person. Passing it on could expose another household to the same tip-over hazard.
Have Any Injuries Been Reported?
At the time the recall was announced, no injuries or incidents associated with these dressers had been reported.
However, a lack of reported injuries does not mean the furniture is safe to continue using. The recall was issued because the dressers failed to meet mandatory stability requirements and could cause severe harm if they fall onto a child.
Why Furniture Anchoring Is Important
Dressers, bookshelves, television stands and other tall furniture should be securely attached to wall studs using appropriate anti-tip hardware.
Parents should avoid placing toys, remote controls or other attractive objects on top of furniture because children may attempt to climb the drawers to reach them. Heavy objects should be stored in lower drawers to reduce the likelihood of the unit becoming top-heavy.
The CPSC’s Anchor It safety campaign provides guidance on preventing furniture and television tip-over incidents in homes.
Anchoring furniture can reduce risk, but consumers should still follow the official recall instructions when a product has been found to violate mandatory safety standards. Installing a restraint does not automatically cancel a recall or confirm that the product meets federal requirements.
How to Report a Dangerous Product
Anyone who experienced a dresser tip-over or a related injury can report the incident through SaferProducts.gov. Reports can help federal safety officials identify dangerous patterns and investigate products before additional injuries occur.
Consumers can also review active recalls through the CPSC recalls database before purchasing used furniture or passing older household products to another family.
The Furnulem recall is an important reminder that affordable online furniture should be checked for product notices, model numbers and anchoring requirements. Families who own the affected dresser should stop using it when unanchored, keep children away and contact Furnulem to request the available refund.
