These five older devices remain easy to recommend in 2026 when the discount is large enough.
1. The M1 MacBook Air Is Still an Excellent Everyday Laptop
Apple’s 2020 M1 MacBook Air is now several generations behind the newest Mac lineup, but its original strengths have aged remarkably well.
The fanless design makes it silent, the battery can still last through a normal working day when its health remains strong, and the M1 processor continues to handle browsing, office applications, video calls, coding and moderate creative work comfortably.

The 2021 Kindle Paperwhite remains an excellent dedicated reading device.
It has a 6.8-inch, 300-pixel-per-inch glare-free display, adjustable warm lighting, USB-C charging and battery life rated for weeks rather than hours. Amazon originally promoted up to 10 weeks of battery life, although real results depend on brightness, wireless activity and reading habits.
Those features remain more important for reading than the faster processors and colourful displays found in multipurpose tablets. An E Ink screen remains easier to view in bright sunlight and creates fewer distractions than a device filled with social media, messages and video applications.
The newer Kindle Paperwhite has a larger seven-inch display and faster page turns, but those improvements do not make the previous model obsolete. Amazon’s current Paperwhite still follows the same basic formula: a glare-free display, warm lighting and extended battery life.
The older model becomes especially attractive when retailers clear remaining inventory or sell certified refurbished units. It can also be a better value for someone who reads novels and nonfiction but does not need colour, handwriting support or a larger premium e-reader.
Buyers should confirm whether the device includes lock-screen advertisements because some discounted Kindle listings are ad-supported. They should also check storage, although even the lower-capacity versions can hold thousands of ordinary ebooks.

4. The Nintendo Switch OLED Still Has One of Gaming’s Best Libraries
The Nintendo Switch OLED is no longer Nintendo’s newest hardware, but it remains valuable for players who care more about games than technical specifications.
Its biggest advantage is the established Switch library. The system can play major Nintendo titles such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and many other games designed for the original Switch family. Nintendo continues to present the system around its three play modes: television, tabletop and handheld.
